      • "OZONE WATER" device for sanitization and decontamination

        How can we improve public health and facilities through sanitization?
        How can we solve food spoilage through sanitization of raw food ingredients?
        How can we increase food production through sanitizing of food and agriculture products?

        About the Challenge

        Panasonic wishes to contribute to solving social issues with partners who are familiar with public health issues, food production and farming and can jointly develop units that incorporate devices and verify their effectiveness. To achieve this, Panasonic is looking to collaborate with tech startups with innovative technologies and business models that are able to use its technology of "OZONE WATER" device to integrate into their existing or new products. Panasonic is open to startups of all industries ranging from sanitization, urban farming to healthcare.

        "OZONE WATER" Device

        With its small configuration, the "OZONE WATER" device can be easily incorporated into water supply facilities and only requires simple installation of piping and power connections for it to be used in any equipment.

        The structure and technology of the device's electrodes can effectively generate and dissolve ozone in water, resulting in high ozone dissolution efficiency.

        Because of the simple structure of the technology, the device only requires low voltage and it is easy to be maintained.

        Chihiro Ii

        Chief Engineer

        Chihiro II is in charge of technology development in the fields of water purification technology and wastewater treatment, and has 30 years of experience at Panasonic. He has been involved in water-related work for many years, as basic research, product development and engineering. He is currently in charge of developing sanitary devices for Panasonic Corporation, Living Appliances and Solutions Company.

        Kenichiro Inagaki

        Chief Engineer

        Kenichiro Inagaki has more than 17 years of research and development experience in Panasonic corporation. His research and development has mainly focused on mechanical system and its applications especially for Panasonic Corporation, Living Appliances and Solutions Company. He is now in charge of development of ozone water device for sanitary.

        Naotsugu Koashi

        IP Senior Expert

        Naotsugu KOASHI has 16-year experience in Panasonic's intellectual property business in the fields of cogeneration systems, IoT and other technologies. He has been involved in intellectual property incubation activities from the basic research stage to the business growth stage. He holds master's degree in engineering from Kyoto University. He is in charge of new business areas in Panasonic Corporation.

        Tadashi Arimura

        Manager

        Tadashi ARIMURA has 25 year experience in research and development experience in Panasonic corporation. He is currently in charge of developing sanitary devices for air and water at Panasonic Corporation Living Appliances & Solutions Company.

        Manager

        Hiroo MAEDA has 21-year experience in Panasonic's intellectual property business in the fields of home appliance products and other technologies.

        Atsushi Hagi

        Unit Leader

        Atsushi HAGI has 30 years experience of intellectual property field in Panasonic. He is now in charge of businesses and products related to beauty and health.

        Jumpei HARADA

        Deputy Manager

        Jumpei HARADA has 9-year experience of intellectual property field in Panasonic. He was transferred to Panasonic R&D Center Singapore from April 2019 and started open innovation activity in Southeast Asia region. After launching Panasonic Deep Tech Innovation Challenge in Apr 2020, He is collaborating with ACE closely. He holds master's degree in engineering from Kyoto University and registered as a patent attorney of Japan.

        Depending on the content of your business idea and technical development plan, we will consider the following possibilities:

        • Selected applicants may be given the opportunity to conduct joint POC with Panasonic and have a joint venture with Panasonic.

        • Mentored by top Panasonic leaders.

        • Cash Prize awarded for Panasonic Deep Tech Innovation Challenge 4 (Champion: SGD $2,000, 1st Runner Up: SGD $1,000).

        Example 1: Cold Chain Transport

        Problem Area

        • Fresh food and pharmaceutical products have an optimal temperature to be transported in.
        • Moving them in undesired temperatures may cause the products to be damaged and not to be consumable anymore.
        • This causes unnecessary wastage that is both expensive and not environmentally friendly.
        • Panasonic seeks to play a part in sustainability by creating an environment that has prolonged cool temperatures by using cold storage technology.

        • Transportation and storage of fresh products.
        • Refrigerating and freezing.

        Potential Partners

        • Panasonic hopes to co-create with technology partners a business model that can provide safe food from production to distribution and consumption, playing a part in sustainability.
