Fast data transfer technology for autonomous vehicle and smart city applications
How can we enhance data utilization for smart cities applications?
How can we ensure smart maintenance of public infrastructures using technology?
Panasonic proposes to work with partners to employ a license-exempt, millimeter-wave wireless LAN (mmWave WLAN) to enable massive data collection from mobile entities (e.g. automotives) in cities. This is a low-cost and high-speed wireless communication solution suitable for outdoor environments. The technology makes it possible to instantaneously transfer a large volume of data from or to a moving entity, such as a vehicle or UAV equipped with camera and sensors. By this, the collection of all kinds of detailed information in smart cities. Panasonic also aims to work with partners to contribute to the creation of a sustainable society by supporting the maintenance of social public infrastructure using this communication technology they have developed.
