What are the challenges?
Challenge 1
Transportation & Storage
Southeast Asia is a tropical region with warm temperatures and high humidity. Storing and transporting food, products and other materials may require a specific range of temperatures to keep the goods intact. Panasonic would like to solve wastage from storage and transport complications - where Panasonic will provide the heat and cold storage technology, IP and resources to create an environment suitable for prolonged periods of time.
Challenge 2
Product Functionality & Enhancement
Certain machines, systems, and storage items are best operated within a range of temperatures. Operating in suboptimal temperatures may result in decreasing activities and even damage. To tackle this problem, the industry has created cooling systems that require large amounts of energy and are generally costly. Additionally, there can be losses in the event of power outages or failures.
Panasonic wants to utilise cold storage technology to solve such energy consumption and emergency problems. Panasonic's cold storage technology can reduce energy consumption and create an environment that cools machines and equipment promptly and for a long time in an emergency.

FAQs
Who can join the challenge?
We welcome applications from both Southeast Asia and International company (startups/SMEs) that is interested in ASEAN with a promising solution in the areas of thermal storage technology. If you are unsure about your eligibility to enter the Challenge, please contact us before submitting an entry.
Can I apply my solution for more than one challenge?
Yes, you may apply to more than one of the challenge announced on the Challenge Website.
When will the briefing session be held to learn more about the challenge?
The briefing session will be held on 2 March 2021, 2PM (SGT) via online here! Panasonic will provide more information and answer queries about the challenge and technologies during the session.
Will I have to give up any equity or IP?
Panasonic does not retain any equity or ownership of the solution upon application. You retain full and exclusive ownership of your information and intellectual property rights. However, Panasonic will work out a separate agreement if the start-up enters into a project contract with Panasonic, or any investments made by Panasonic after due diligence may involve equity.
Where will the Demo Day be held? Do I have to fly to Singapore?
The Pitch for finalists will be held in Singapore. Due to the current travel restrictions, the Demo Day will be held via a video conference.
What happens after I submit my application? Is there a fee?
We will contact you should Panasonic be interested in your solution. Given the high volume of applications and the Lunar New Year, we strive to release the results by the end of March. There will not be any fee involved to take part in the pitch. The outcome of the pitch will only be released from April onwards after due diligence.
How will the prizes be awarded?
The organisers will select the final Top 3 winners from the two challenges during the Demo Day. Thereafter, we will contact the Top 3 winners and disbursed the prizes.
If I'm doing a POC project with Panasonic, where will it be?
For the POC project, it will be done in your home country to pilot first. Panasonic may then decide to pilot it in different countries and they will help with scaling and international expansion. Do note that this pitch does not guarantee any POC projects or investments.
